Zwei Trompeten, Waldhorn, Posaune und Tuba, dazu ein vierstimmiger Saxophonsatz und ein Schlagzeug: Eigentlich war es eine Blasmusik, die Yves Massy in seiner Küche versammelte. Und für sie schrieb er ein Dutzend melodienseliger Stücke und gab jedem der Musiker sein Schaufenster.

Aux antipodes de la complaisance, la formule instrumentale choisie par Yves Massy (trombone), Philippe Ehinger (clarinettes) et Pierre-François Massy (contrebasse) sonde les chemins intérieurs de ces musiciens exigeants. Le trio, fondé en 1996, a su construire une cohésion, une interaction féconde. Nourri de musiques improvisées contemporaines, il a aussi un penchant pour les folklores populaires. Les compositions, presque toutes signées par Yves Massy, déclinent une sorte de musique de chambre aux atmosphères contrastées. L’écriture est fine, élaborée, tout en restant accessible à l’auditeur (Etudes II pour trio en constitue un bel exemple). On ne développera pas sur la technique et le son de chacun. Les trois musiciens, excellents, ont surtout quelque chose à (se) dire. L’acuité du propos habite l’album tout du long.
Nocturne Schématique starts out from the idea of the trace : the idea of the imprint something leaves in its surroundings. Nocturne Schématique : The music on this CD traces of our individual histories, of our biographies ; in each of the compositions you can find reminiscences of thousand of unwritten compositions ; in one piece you even find the imprint of a phone book falling on the piano. In the improvisations the group expands its tracks testing the liwiths of the liberty necessary to create lively and spontaneous music.
After the musical "4 minutes 33", after the rock-folk-jazz band "Aujourd’hui Madame" Yves Massy returns to a quiet and intimate music. The heart of the present CD consists of the trio Massy, Wintsch, Vonlanthen working since 1993 mainly on their own or sometimes also on compositions by Frank Zappa.
